Cold winter nights are perfect for hunkering down with cheesy goodness
I asked our cheesemongers to come up with their favourite cheese themed recipes to share with our lovely customers.
Chris took a trip down memory lane and family holidays in their caravan. Sausage and Mash seems to have been a staple meal and the mash with Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire sounds superb!
Jan is a big fan of our Gorgonzola Dolce PDO so her recipe suggestion features an amazing cheesy sauce to go over pasta.
Ali shared her recipe for a cheesy Aubergine bake. Parmigiano Reggiano in all it’s melted glory!
Whilst my colleagues’ recipes are all wonderful, I’m more of a traditionalist when it comes to cheese. Give me a nice piece of Montgomery cheddar, a quarter of a Sinodun Hill and a slither of Colston Bassett Stilton, throw in a few grapes and a sliced apple and that’s my dinner sorted.
But what’s been happening here in Pangbourne?
We’ve just about recovered from all the Christmas exertions. It’s a truly manic time of year for us so January always feels a bit quiet in comparison! Things here though are nicely steady and it’s given me time to plan our cheese club offerings and to organise the pairings for our next cheese & wine evening. It’s always great to go through the counter to see what’s really eating well and to work out which tipples will complement it. I’m particularly looking forward to our blue cheese pairing next week and I hope our guests for the tasting session will enjoy it!
