Sometimes you don’t need your cracker to do anything clever. You just need it to be really good at holding cheese.

Fine Cheese Co. Wheat Rounds are crisp, gently nutty and slightly sweet, with a simple flavour that works with just about anything you put on them.

Made with whole wheat flour, they’re golden, crisp and — importantly — sturdy enough to cope with a generous piece of cheese without snapping halfway between the cheeseboard and your mouth.

We’ve all been there.

They’re the sort of cracker you can put out with a mixed cheeseboard without having to think too hard about which cheese goes where. Hard, soft or blue — Wheat Rounds are quite happy with all of them.

What Cheese Goes with Wheat Rounds?

The easy answer is almost anything, but here are a few favourites:

• Soft cheese – Baron Bigod, Waterloo or Wigmore all work beautifully. You get crisp cracker against lovely soft cheese without the cracker competing for attention.
• Hard cheese – Try Appleby’s Cheshire, Kaltbach Alpine Creamy or Stärnächäs Extra Mature. The gentle nuttiness of the cracker is particularly good with these more savoury styles.
• Blue cheese – Barkham Blue, Beauvale or Bleu d’Auvergne PDO are particularly good. That little hint of sweetness in the Wheat Round works brilliantly against a salty blue.

They’re equally happy underneath a piece of salami, a spoonful of chutney or a bit of fig jam, so they’re a useful box to have around even when there isn’t a formal cheeseboard involved.

Jen’s note: The best thing about Wheat Rounds is that you don’t really need to think about them. Put a box on the table, add whatever cheese you’ve got and they’ll probably work. And they’re sturdy enough to carry a decent piece of cheese — because nobody wants to lose half their Stilton on the way to their mouth.
