Not every cracker needs to sit quietly underneath the cheese.

The Fine Cheese Co. Fig & Honey Crackers bring their own flavour to the cheeseboard, with pieces of fig and a gentle sweetness from honey running through a lovely crisp cracker.

They’re slightly thicker than many of the crackers we sell, which makes them particularly good with soft, creamy cheeses — there’s nothing worse than loading up a cracker with a beautifully ripe piece of Brie only for it to collapse before it reaches your mouth.

The combination of fruit, honey and a little sea salt makes these definitely more than just something to put your cheese on. Choose the right cheese and the cracker becomes part of the pairing.

What Cheese Goes with Fig & Honey Crackers?

These are particularly good with creamy, salty and savoury cheeses where that little bit of sweetness has something to work against.

• Soft cheese – Brie, Camembert or Délice des Crémiers are lovely choices. Rich, creamy cheese with fig and honey is a very difficult combination to argue with.
• Sheep’s milk cheese – Try them with Sardinian Pecorino or Spenwood. The fruity sweetness works beautifully alongside their savoury, nutty flavours.
• Blue cheese – This might actually be my favourite combination. A salty, creamy blue against sweet fig and honey just works. Try one with Stilton, Gorgonzola or whichever blue happens to be calling to you from the cheeseboard.

And because the fruit and honey are already in the cracker, you don’t necessarily need to add lots of other accompaniments. Sometimes cheese + cracker really is enough.

Jen’s note: I particularly like these with blue cheese. That combination of salty blue, sweet fig and honey means the pairing is already happening before you’ve even reached for the chutney. Although obviously nobody is going to stop you reaching for the chutney too.
