If you want your cracker to bring a little something of its own to the cheeseboard, these certainly do.

Fine Cheese Co. Rosemary & Extra Virgin Olive Oil Crackers are crisp, savoury and wonderfully aromatic. You can smell the rosemary as soon as you open the box, while the olive oil brings a gentle richness underneath.

They’re definitely not a neutral cracker. That rosemary is part of the pairing, which means I tend to choose cheeses that are going to enjoy having a few herbs along for the ride.

They’re also dangerously good straight from the box.

What Cheese Goes with Rosemary Crackers?

For me, these work particularly well with goat’s and sheep’s milk cheeses, although there are a few other combinations worth trying.

• Goat’s cheese – Sinodun Hill is probably my favourite pairing. The fresh, creamy cheese with rosemary and olive oil is lovely, and a little drizzle of honey makes it even better.
• Manchego PDO – Manchego PDO and rosemary make a lot of sense together. Add a little membrillo and you’ve got salty, savoury, herby and sweet all in one go.
• Parmigiano Reggiano PDO – A piece of Parmigiano Reggiano PDO works brilliantly with the rosemary and olive oil. It’s also a very good excuse to open a bottle of wine.
• Gorgonzola PDO – Gorgonzola PDO gives you something altogether richer: creamy blue cheese against crisp, aromatic rosemary.

These also make excellent canapé bases. Goat’s cheese and honey would be my first choice, but they’re equally good with a little tapenade, cured meat or roasted vegetables.

Jen’s note: These really are a fixture in our house, and I’ll quite happily eat them straight from the box. But give me one topped with goat’s cheese and a drizzle of honey and I’m very happy indeed. Add some of our homemade olive tapenade and there’s a reasonable chance I won’t bother making dinner.
