Soft and supple with a wonderful biscuity aroma, Wrekin Blue is a fabulous example of cheesemaking perfection! One of our favourites.
Wrekin Blue is made by Martin and Beth Moyden near Market Drayton. Not only does it looks fabulous, the golden paste is well distributed with significant areas of blue, it tastes great too! It is moist with a salty richness that flows from the front of the tongue to the back of the mouth. Coating the inside of the mouth with creaminess. The blue notes prevail giving it an excellent length.
All of the milk for the cheese comes from Hawkstone Abbey Farm which is where the Appleby family make their Cheshire cheese. This milk is all unpasteurised making the Wrekin Blue a rare find – English and made from raw milk!
Named after a prominent hill located within the northern area of the Shropshire Hills National Landscapes. This hill (the Wrekin) has a distinctive profile that can be seen from miles around, making it an impressive landmark in the region.
