Lancashire Bomb

Encased in a black wax, the Lancashire Bomb really is a taste explosion! Within the waxy rind lies a two-year-old, creamy Lancashire cheese

The cheeses themselves are made just outside of Preston. The Shorrock family have been making Lancashire Cheese on their farm for generations. During this time they have created many award-winning cheeses. The cheese dairy is now headed up by Andy Shorrock and it is he who created the Lancashire Bomb. Originally Andy made just one cheese in the shape of a bomb and gave it to a friend who was emigrating to America (what the American immigration officials thought about this who knows!)

Since that first foray the Lancashire Bomb has become famous up and down the country. Not only for its unique shape but also for its fabulous depth of flavour. When the cheese is at room temperature there is nothing quite like taking a sharp knife, removing the top off the cheese (a bit like you would a boiled egg) and scooping out the smooth cheese with a spoon.

They come in two different sizes, a large one is 460g whereas the small weighs 230g. Occasionally we stock different flavours of the small Lancashire Bombs so just get in touch if you would like to try something a bit different. At time of writing the other flavours include smoked, chilli, black pepper, garlic, red onion and whiskey! It does take us a couple of days to order the flavoured cheeses so please allow for this is your planning!

Delicious either on its own or with a sliced apple and a glass of red wine.
