We are so pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Harry from the Green Door Flower Company to supply locally grown flower bouquets. Harry trained as an ecologist and is passionate about protecting our local environment. All of the flowers that we are selling are grown in Ashampstead, just a couple of miles from Pangbourne, and so their carbon footprint is minimal.
Each bouquet is made up of whatever flowers happen to be in season at the time and we love how they change week on week as new blooms come into being.
The wonderful aroma of the flowers and the distinctive one of the cheeses didn’t pair very well so these fabulous flowers are available Wednesday to Saturday in our sister shop, The Loose Larder.

But what else is new in our world of cheese…?
We have a new blue cheese in the counter – Bleu des Causses PDO. It is an unpasteurised cow’s milk blue which is matured in the same natural limestone caves as our Roquefort. Indeed, the cheese used to be called Roquefort until the PDO (protection designation of origin) of Roquefort came into being. This meant that only sheep’s milk cheeses could be part of the PDO and so Bleu des Causses was created. It has become a firm favourite in the counter and has recently made its debut on our website!
There are so few unpasteurised blue cheeses available so the Bleu des Causses is filling a gap!
