Wow – I can’t really believe that today is our 4 year anniversary. Some days it feels like we’ve been here forever but a lot of the time I feel like I started working here last week. Pangbourne is such a wonderfully, friendly place. I really love coming into work everyday. We are so lucky to have such fabulous support from everyone in the village.
Our regular customers will have noticed that we have a couple of new members of staff behind the cheese counter :-). Denise has been with us for a few months now but only works as and when we need an extra pair of hands. Josh has become a firm favourite with our Saturday customers – his permanent smile makes each shift that he works passes by extremely quickly. Ginny is our newest recruit and she is in with me on a Thursday whilst she learns the ins and outs of all of the cheeses. We have a great team spirit in the shop which I hope shines through to our customers. Our team really are the driving force behind our successes and Ali and I are just so grateful to all of the hard work that they all put in.
But what else is new…? We have introduced a new cheese into our counter – Rollright. This is a soft, washed rind cheese which is then wrapped in a band of spruce bark. The cheese was modelled on Reblochon but for us it is better in every way! It has a rich flavour within which you can really taste the woody notes from the bark. It also leaves a wonderful peanutty aftertaste on the tongue. I am currently looking for a new hard British cheese. This is to replace one that we’re going to drop so I’ve been busy tasting alternatives. Yes it’s a hard job! On a personal front I am all set to run the Oxford Half Marathon at the weekend – I’ll do a quick update post race…
